Friday's thoughts

1. I think I may blog too much. I can imagine not everyone wants to read my daily sprays of sunshine. It's just that I have so much to say. If I don't get it out, I have less room for wine.

2. Tivo has made me very lazy. It has made awakeness an option. I fell asleep during Barack's speech last night. In my defense, we have been watching the convention for FOUR DAYS. By the time it was Barack's turn, I had apparently had my fill of real reality television. So I started to watch the speech again this afternoon. I started to FALL ASLEEP AGAIN. It's only like 43 minutes long. Focus!

3. I need a Final Friday sherpa. Wichita's art scene does something very special on the last Friday of each month. Unfortunately, I am socially awkward and have not attended a single crawl. I just need a seasoned Final Friday crawler to go with me once. Show me how the cool people maneuver through all the other cool people all while looking very cool.

4. Live TV is scary. When I was a kid, I used to get nervous when I watched the circus on television. The trapeze and tight rope acts freaked me out. Most of the time I watched it through the yarns of my afghan. But then I would remember that it wasn't live. I told myself if anybody died, it wouldn't be on TV. Of course then I was REALLY freaked out when my dad took me to the see the circus in person. I desperately needed a filter. I had this same fear last night when I was watching Barack (before I fell asleep). He is such an inspiring candidate that it has left many fearful. I definitely fear for his safety, and I prefer to not watch him live.

5. I don't have any hobbies. Yesterday, I had to interview a classmate, and he had to interview me. He had a fair and obligatory question. Do you have any hobbies? Uhh..not really. "I like to cook and read and write and be sarcastic, but don't quote me on any of that because I'll sound like a moron." Then later in the interview, I realized what my hobby really is. I am such a loser.

6. Even though I am still not satisfied with my station in life, I have made up some ground. I made my weekly trip to the Sedgwick County Courthouse today for my part-part-part-time job as a field reporter for Courthouse News Service. I noticed two words on several desk calendars, the only two words. Food Day! Then I noticed plates with familiar mounds of dip like food next to vessel like food used to transport said dips. I am so glad that I have a job that fulfills my brain more than it fulfills my belly. Food Day! is no longer a highlight.

7. This makes the 15th post that uses "Me" as a tag. Whatever. It's my blog and I can do whatever I want. I'm actually surprised it isn't more.

  1. Some of the bloggers I read post five or six times a day. Now that's a bit much. I think twice a day is a reasonable upper limit.

And it is your blog, so you're pretty much the one thing that all the posts should have in common...
