I'm not going to blog about every one of the 30 Shocker Fitness workouts, but I think the first one deserves some attention.
Some thoughts:
I weighed myself this morning to get a starting point. I had not weighed myself in weeks, maybe months. I was both pleased and disappointed. I weighed less than I would have guessed. This means I have less to lose, which is obviously good news. But recently I had been operating under no food rules whatsoever. Chips for lunch? Yes! Chips for supper? Of course! The rest of the piece of cheesecake that Charley couldn't finish? Absolutely, without hesitation. So since my weight wasn't as high as I had feared, I wonder if I could have done a better job at splurging, and now it is too late. (I'm not well. I know.)
I will really remember to apply deodorant before Wednesday's session. The new routine in the wee hours of the morning had me all out of whack. I apologize to all who were near me.
Coach Bolt and I have different definitions of the word warm-up. Before today, a warm-up was something my charming husband would give my cup of coffee on a Sunday morning over a dining room table covered in newspaper. What Coach Bolt calls a warm-up is very, very different. Coach's warm-up is really all the exercise I thought I needed, and he's just getting started.
I loved driving home before 7 a.m. and knowing that my exercise was already baked in the cake. In the past, I would run in the afternoons. Sometimes when I was in the car and hadn't gone running yet, I would get angry when I saw other people out exercising. I felt like they were mocking me with their movements. "I know! I know! I'm going to do it soon!"
I like being there with people I know, who I hope will hold me accountable. Sarah, Lainie, Bobby. Please call me out if you don't see me. Call me ugly names if you have to. I do not want to quit.
I liked having a reason to stretch besides waking up in the morning or sitting in a chair too long. It felt really good to lie on the gym floor and stretch my poor, shocked muscles.
And lastly, I'm not convinced that running the narrow stairs in Koch Arena in the dark is necessarily a good idea for anyone.
I second all of that, especially the tiny stairs in the dark. Liability, anyone?
