Life is funny.
Sometimes it's good.
Sometimes it's bad.
Sometimes it's very good.
Sometimes it's very bad.
But at some point, you're going to experience the very best part of it - the happiest, most fulfilling time in your life.
The kicker is that you don't know when you're in that part.
I even made a visual aid for you.

Life is much more like the top line than the bottom line. Life does not continue to get better and better until we die. Hardly.
So where am I on that line?
When I was going to school, I clearly knew I was still working my way upward. I was working toward a higher goal.
But I met that goal. I got that job. I have that husband. I have those kids.
Everything is really, really good.
So what if I'm on the flat part of the highest point of that line? Well, there's nothing I can really do about that.
But what I do want to do is recognize all the good that life is right now, so later on in life I won't feel bad for not appreciating what was so good.
Still with me?
Things that make life so awesome right now:
Health. I feel good every morning when I get out of bed. My alarm is set for 4:55 and I'm often awake before it goes off. I have the ability, strength to run, which adds to my happiness. Kevin does have "the arthritis," but it was caught early and his meds are keeping him in good working order. He can still play disc golf and enjoy it.
Money. We have enough. We drive old cars to be financially smart, but if one was to go down, we could replace it. We live in a nice part of town and have a house we (mostly) really like. We're far from rich, but we have enough that it doesn't hinder our happiness.
Kids. They're all smart and optimistic about their futures. They are also all old enough to be out of our hair.
Work. Kevin and I can both wear jeans to work. BOOM. Kevin has put in 20 years with his employer and over the past handful of years he finally started getting recognized for his experience and wisdom. And I love working for KMUW. The people are smart, funny and aware. The leadership wants and expects ideas from the whole team. Not to mention the fact I've gotten to work from home for the past two days because WSU had snow days. I never want to leave. Ever.
Love. I'm in it, madly. Kevin is an amazing partner. Nothing is as good as when I can share the joke, experience, story or bag of cookies with him.
So if this is as good as it gets, I feel good knowing that I've seen and recognized it.
If it's going to keep getting better, AWESOME.
